Happy New Year! Now that we have turned the calendar to 2018, it is a good time to make you aware of the testing windows for this year’s state assessments
. Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) includes computer-based testing in English Language Arts, Mathematics (3rd-8th grades), and Science (5th and 8th grades). PRA will be administering CMAS per federal and state law during these windows:
CMAS: English Language Arts and Mathematics April 2-April 27th, 2018 (3rd-8th grades)
CMAS: Science April 9th-27th, 2018 (5th & 8th grades)
You can see the scheduled testing dates and times for each grade level on our website: http://www.prak8.org/state-mandated-testing
We ask that, if at all possible, no travel plans or appointments are made during the testing times.
What are the Value and Purpose of State Assessments?
While CMAS assessments are only one measure of student learning, having all Colorado students take this common set of assessments provides parents with answers to these important questions:
How well is my child performing compared to other students across the state?
Which schools and districts perform best in preparing students for success, according to Colorado’s standards?
Additionally, state assessment results provide:
Information your child’s teacher uses to plan instruction.
Identification of a school’s programmatic weaknesses, so improvement strategies can be developed.
Recognition of high performing schools so others may learn from them.
Please see the State Mandated Testing
page on our website for more information related to CMAS, including excusing your child from testing. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Becky Bonner firstname.lastname@example.org
Students will need to come with costumes, and with any background music ready with the karaoke version, if singing, or other accompaniment prepared. Sign up sheets will go up on January 8th, in 5 min. increments and it is first come-first served for a tryout slots.
Please email Ms. Hall or Mrs. Byrd with your questions.
